Take a step back in time with a visit to Bartari.
The weather has been less than pleasant here in Northeastern Pa these past few weekends. It has been either abnormally warm for December leaving us little snow to enjoy the winter activities of the area or it has been cold and rainy leaving us to stay cooped up inside. Looking for something different to do on a Saturday night my family and I ventured out to a local Scranton bar called Bartari. This cool new bar combines the best of both Bar + Atari with a long list of beers and over 50 vintage arcade games to enjoy!
We decided to get some beers and snacks before hitting up the game area, I'll note that you can take your drink over to gaming are, they conveniently setup cup holders and little tables in between the machines. My mom and I got Susquehanna Brewing Company's Blueberry Thrill and Orange is the New Ale, while my dad got his usual Sam Adam's Winter Lager.
For food we got two Social Shareables:
The Pa Cheese plate: local selection of cheeses, birch beer jam, toasted bread,
and candied walnuts
Ring King Meat plate: spicy pepperoni, prosciutto, bologna, Dutch ham,
toasted bread and mustard
I am ALWAYS down for a good cheese and meat board. While the meat board didn't impress me that much, the cheese board with that birch beer jam to die for. It was sweet and had a little kick to it, I would highly recommend. The menu also features a variety of other shareable options and entrees. Once we, ok I, gorged myself on cheese and bread we got a cup of quarters and set out to the games.
My dad, who is a huge gaming nerd, found his inner child playing the games of his childhood; space invaders, frogger, mortal kombat, galaga, defender, and loads more. My mom, who isn't the biggest gamer, loved the pinball machines and skee ball setups. I also got her to play a shooting game with me, which she told me later was actually her favorite to play. My favorite was...Ms. Pacman!
So whether you're looking for a fun night out with family or friends, a gamer wanting that nostalgic arcade feeling, or are in need of a unique date night Bartari should certainly be on the list.
