Get into the Christmas spirit with a visit to Tomball's German Christmas Market!
Growing up in Northeastern Pennsylvania, I've mainly experienced those "winter wonderland" Christmases. Now imagine my surprise when I took a weekend trip to HOT-STON. My boyfriend, Will, is studying to be an airline pilot down in Houston. So I decided to come and visit and bring all the holiday feels with me! I was doing some research to try and find the perfect place to go check out some local flair and found the Tomball, TX German Christmas Market.
It's a FREE event that took place the weekend (Dec. 13th-15th) I happened to visit, double perfect! We got into our Uber and took the short (20 min) drive North to Tomball, TX. At first sight it is not like the Christmas Markets I am used to there were fair rides, a ferris wheel, and even a petting zoo (totally had to stop and pet the baby cow). Once we got past all the "county fair" aspect of it we got right into the German spirit with some brats and brews!
There were a ton of vendors selling authentic german food and, for those who were not into the schnitzel, there was plenty of other food vendor options. Will and I stopped by the Berlin Food Factory truck and got the German Platter so we could have a little of everything: Schnitzel, Sauerkraut, Brats, and Potato Salad.
Looking for an open table we set up under the entertainment tent (where bands played all weekend for everyone to enjoy for free!). The band was a hit and I was feeling the beer, so I made Will come up and dance with me, which he rarely does outside of kitchen dancing so win for me. After that we took a stroll through the rest of the vendors selling antiques, hand crafted signs, beer steins and so much more.
We finished off the night with a yummy cheese strudel! We were on our way out, because the festival does end around 10pm, and all the vendors were closing when we stopped by one of pastry sellers and asked if they still had one left since everything was put away and we got it for only $5, goes to show doesn't hurt to ask.
The Tomball German Christmas Market was SOO much fun. It was just the holiday spirit Will and I needed, plus the beer helped too! If you're in Houston in Dec. and looking for something to do that is budget friendly, offers (delicious) authentic German food beer and entertainment then check this festival out!
Standby For more fun!
with love, Amanda
